The ASHRAE BC Chapter is honoured to be hosting the Region XI Chapter Regional Conference from May 2nd to May 4th at the River Rock Resort. We will be welcoming attendees from Region XI's twelve chapters, our Regional Executive, and ASHRAE Society Represenatatives, including Current Society President, Tom Watson, and incoming Society President, Bill Bahnfleth.

Our May meeting will be held at the River Rock Resort as part of the Region XI CRC. Our speaker is ASHRAE Society President Elect, Bill Bahnfleth, who will present his Presidential Theme titled "Shaping the Next". Please note this is a lunch meeting.

Benoit Rodier from Cimco gave a technical presentation about CO2 Refrigeration and Its Applications to 50 attendees at the April Meeting.

February 24th - Research Promotion Update
Once again, our ASHRAE BC Members are recognizing the importance of supporting ASHRAE Research and are demonstrating their generousity by investing in our Research Promotion Campaign. To date, we have received contributions from 32 different donors, and have reached $13,200, which is 63% towards this years target of $21,000.
Our Research Promotion Committee will be reaching out to our chapter members in the near future to ask for your support. Please contact Chris Collett at chris@chriscollettiaq.ca or 604 535-4215 if you have any questions about ASHRAE Research, or if you want to make a "Pre-emptive strike" and make your investment in ASHRAE Research before we contact you!

More than 90 attendees enjoyed Anders Nielsen's informative presentation titled "about Pumps in HVAC Systems - What Really Matters?" Anders works with Grundfos, and was visiting from Denmark.

December 15th, 2012: Major Announcement!
The ASHRAE BC Chapter has launced a new web portal for Event and Membership Management. Using this new tool, you will be able to register on line for future ASHRAE BC Chapter dinner meetings and special events, including the Golf Tournament and the Region XI CRC. The new web portal allows you to pay by credit card through a secure third party service. The new portal also allows you to manage your BC Chapter Membership profile and information. This includes an on-line Membership Directory Listing of current Chapter Members. Please note that the only current Chapter Members have access to the Membership Directory. If you have let your chapter membership lapse, we encourage you to renew your $60 Chapter membership fee, so that you can enjoy full access to the new portal.

ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, Dr. Max Sherman from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, provided an entertaining and informative presentation titled "Ventilation: The One & Future King" at the November Meeting.

The October Meeting saw an excellent turnout, with 110 people in attendance to hear the presentation by Greg Cunniff on Optimizing Pumping Systems.

The tour of the new Van Dusen Botantical Gardens Vistors Centre was a great success, with 120 people in attendance. Our thanks to Goran Ostojic from Cobalt Engineering and Jim Huffman from Perkins+Will Canada for their pre-tour presentations.

Congratulations to Les Pereira, our outgoing Research Promotion Chair, for his record breaking efforts. Les has raised a total of $35,379 for ASHRAE Research. We really appreciate the generousity of our B.C. Chapter Members in taking our total far beyond our yearly target of $19,000.
