The Vancouver Island charter was officially presented by Bob McDonald, Society president at the April 2, 1985 dinner Meeting in Victoria. British Columbia, Canada.

The meeting was honored by the presence of Bob McDonald, who had just returned from China and Fred Kohloss, Society Vice president who had traveled from his home in Hawaii.

In addition to these guests, Marty McDougall and his wife visited from Seattle, 12 guests arrived from the Edgerton chapter and 24 made the trip from Vancouver. The Vancouver   guests included B.C. Charter Members Bob Hole and Fraser Wiggins as well as Jim Park, Region XI chairman, Dick Perry, Society Past president and several additional chapter and society officers.

A special award was given to Ron Williams for his efforts in chartering the Edgerton, Calgary and Vancouver Island chapters. A gavel was presented to the new Chapter by the Northern Alberta chapter along with the advice that it would be necessary to control the unruly Members that had emigrated from Alberta to Vancouver Island.

Bob Martin representing the B.C. Association of professional Engineers, as well as Society Representative| for government Affairs, along with John and Mrs. Sansom, Engineer for the City of Victoria, welcomed the new chapter.

Jack Meredith accepted the Charter as President of the new   chapter and promised that it would soon be dripping with P.A.O.E. (Presidential Award of excellence) decorations. A clear challenge to the B.C. Chapter was presented.

The free-flowing fellowship and camaraderie, not to mention the Toby Draught, and the pleasant surroundings of the University of Victoria Faculty Club, made the evening an enjoyable and memorable one not the 118 people In attendance.

The Vancouver Island Chapter did an excellent job of organizing and received well deserved support and encouragement as the newest (145th) chapter of A.S.H.R.A.E.

Congratulations are to be given to Jack Meredith, President; Cedric Trueman, President Elect; Mike Scott, Vice President along with their fellow officers and committees for their accomplishments to date.  Best wishes are extended for their future growth and success.
